The thing about sales is being able to celebrate the little wins that happen every day. Like turning that not interested response into a meeting, or totally flipping someone's opinion after seeing a competitor's product, etc.

It also helps to have others around to laugh at those moments sales brings ya, like that super angry dude that you end up getting on a cold call or how crazy it is that a deal that went dark on you returned from the grave begging for pricing.

You got to find a way for you and your teammates to still share those moments. Maybe it's a whatsapp group where your manager isn't invited or something.

But when you're just going through the motions and grinding activity in your room alone, it's lackluster. Find some ways to enjoy the little moments with all your teammates sitting in their rooms alone.

I hear you.

A small change I made was to schedule short 10 minute breaks on my calendar everyday. These remind me to get up, go outside, and not look at a screen. The change of scenery helps as well as the movement.ย

When I ignore these breaks anxiety kicks in and everytime I hear the Outlook new mail sound on my laptop or my phone I want to kill someone. So yes, this works.

I feel that way too. March was my biggest month in the last year and all I could think was, "so what".ย
I guess we need to find our own motivation to keep going. It was money for a while for me. After I made a bunch of that, now I know I can make money. So that's done.ย

I'm all hears on this thread too. Thanks for asking this here :)

I hit this a lot....Sometimes it just takes something new to pop up to get you excited again IE: chasing a new large deal.ย  I have broken funks by asking for more responsibilities like mentoring peers or getting involved in a cross functional project.....if those aren't options then there's nothing better than a Wed-Sunday trip somewhere on a beach to reset.

Most answers involve more at "work stuff", this one doesn't.

Schedule meaningful breaks to leave "the office" -ย

Gas station drinks w/ friendsย

Mid-day Gym Session or casual neighborhood walk

Mid-day Golf Driving Range

COD, Dota 2, LOL, WOW - whatever videogame you're playing

Do this twice a day. Sales is usually a long-term game. Tuesdays and Thursdays you can take longer breaks so you don't reach peak exhaustion. I live in Utah. We have beautiful mountains. I've done quick but effective 3-mile hikes mid-day. Then I come back to it and get more shit done than I thought I would.ย

Ultimately find a way to release dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, and endorphins. These are chemicals that fire off in your body when you experience happiness/adrenaline.ย

so...drugs, got it. But, seriously, thanks for the suggestions. I do walks and stuff but I haven't incorporated any other activities.ย

If you are desperate or start to really feel desperate, I'd ask for an abnormally large amount of PTO. 10-days/2-weeks.ย

After a break like that, if you come back to work and feel the same way, it may be time to consider other options (company, job, lifestyle). Love this discussion because it's real and should be openly discussed and supported.

Red I think everyone in sales is dealing with these same issues right now, so you're not alone.

Personally, I do at least 7 hours of sleep and exercise every morning - the difference between my motivation & personal wellbeing when I do both vs. when I do only one or neither is like night and day.

I'd also agree with @brotatoย ย that you have to figure out how to celebrate socially, whether it's calling up a peer when you have a good day or firing up a 30 minute lunch zoom with the other reps.

We're all there with you.
