How do you find the decision maker?

Any tips on finding the decision makers and other relevant stakeholders for a target account/prospect before we even meet them?

I have used Linkedin Sales Navigator but find it limited and ends up being just based on my guess.

And I have found that reaching out straight to the decision maker with a concise message it's the best strategy.

I usually try a 3 step process.

1. pick up phone

2. dial number

3. ask who handles X.

It has made me a lot of money.

Well what the actual fuckโ€ฆ. It set my โ€œreal profileโ€ as my preferred. I absolutely do NOT want that. So yeah.. fuck this.

If you wouldnโ€™t have said something, I probably wouldnโ€™t have noticed. I deleted the comment that had my real name on it, but still @gasty and @sahil this option needs to go. Or at least move the damn toggle somewhere elseโ€ฆ. Like settings where a normal developer would?

For what it's worth, I'm not seeing it now. You're still anti to me.

Yeah, that toggle is a bit...unsettling. Particularly when it flashes to RN vs handle when you first go to post.

I think I'm a little confused by this question because of your Head of Sales title ๐Ÿค”

@antiASKHOLE has the right answer. If you have trouble getting someone on the phone, look up their executive team on the company website. Usually theyโ€™ll have info on who everything rolls up to (CFO, CTO etc)

Leverage your ICP and relevant customer accounts to map out the potential decision makers by department and/or title. Then click it and rip it.

Stop looking for one decision maker. There is almost never just one anymore.

I am a fan of working my way up an org chart. It helps give me insight on their business from the ground up (something execs appreciate) and all sorts of Intel on who I should talk to.

Job titles can often be misleading in terms of who you need to talk to, but "gatekeepers" usually know exactly who you need to talk to.

Decision makers are difficult to be found in navigator as you donโ€™t know who would approve it. If you caught hold of someone ask them before your meeting or try calling people as antiASKHOLE mentioned

Bottom up approach will work. Calling into lower rank and file employees. having conversations and casually asking who handles x
