How do you handle the fucking stress?

How do you handle the fucking stress?

It’s a stressful time:

- WORK: EOQ – “Will I make my goals / deadlines?”

- EMPLOYMENT: Finding / Keeping - "What can I do?"

- HOME: Sharing Space 24/7 – “How do I stay calm?”

- HEALTH: CV19 – “Will my family / bubble stay infection-free?”

Coping can take many forms.

It’s time to apply the nuggets of wisdom we've been reading for about a year now.

- Exercise: release endorphins

- Sleep: we are more resilient when rested

- Meditate: create new structures in your brain

- Connect with others: beware of isolation; “belonging” is critical to wellbeing

- Forgive: yourself and others; don’t let grudges and slights eat at you

- Track/journal your gratitude: thoughts, words & actions (gamify your life)

- Agency: keep doing things you like and can do - read, paint, walk, cook...

And cat videos. 😺

Seriously.

5-minutes of watching cat-videos will help clear your head, warm your heart, reduce stress, and bring a smile.

Do you agree?

For me it's making sure I give myself time to workout 3-4 days a week at least. I also can't stress enough how valuable a good therapist is. About a year into my current role I was close to hitting a wall and therapy got me through it. Now I make sure to schedule appointments once every 2-3 months just for a check in and it's fantastic.

Also massages are a great stress reliever. Honestly just use every dollar from your companies benefits plan

Working out was a great stress reliever / mood balancer for me but its been tough trying to source the discipline to do so at home instead pf the gym.

I ran into that issue too. Over the summer I got through it by buying a bike and making that my workout. Over the winter though I've been using the Volt athletics app to design my workouts. They even have an at home mode where you select what equipment you have available and it designs the workout around that. Highly recommend as I find just having a plan to follow has helped me a lot

staying stress free is a choice and lifestyle.

Things I do to stay stress-free

1. and foremost it's important to work somewhere you are valued for the unique contribution you bring to the table and are held to a reasonable standard ie. not overworked and underappreciated.

You spend most of your time at work and if your manager is a dumbass and so is his it's likely every day will be filled with stressful situations no matter your level of chi.

2. setting small goals each day that are achievable to reward myself for after

3. rewarding myself for meeting goals, ie. new job + better salary = new car for me. hitting my call, email, and LinkedIn metrics = a walk, or a quick exercise, or a great meal. If I hit quota, boom, time for a nice drive through the country and a couple days off doing whatever I want

4. connecting with loved ones daily

5. micro-dosing sativa kush daily (I've always been relatively stress-free doing this although it's more of a physical regulator and you need to actually deal with the source of the stress)

6. great office workspace, 3 monitors, great quality chair rated for 12 hours. standing table, with manifestations, affirmations, quotes, art, & books on the wall, as well as having an actual clock, pens, paper, printer, a clean space

7. writing affirmations daily before starting work

8. drinking tons of water, eating good food, stretching every 45 minutes

9. essential oils like mind guide, frankincense, lavender, peppermint, & tea tree oil applied to the side of my temples and neck help relieve tension

10. Sex is a great tension reliever unless you have meh sex. Go have some passionate sex with your significant other & get wild, I guarantee you will feel 100% less stressed out after.

11. get some exercise fam. exercise daily even if for 10 minutes, sweat out the bullshit, breath in success. I skateboard daily

12. positive self-talk, don't treat yourself like a toxic ex, treat yourself like you're in the FUCKING presidents club & you grossed one mill on your last paycheck and the world is your FUCKING oyster. Seriously, the way you talk about yourself becomes what you believe about yourself, ie: I'm stressed will lead to you being stressed. or I suck, will lead you to sucking. Catch yourself in these moments and rephrase it like: damn I didn't get that meeting I need to work on my objection handling, etc.
