I have found the stress associated with Sales is generally associated with the individuals performance. From personal experience the time I was the most stressed was when I wasn't doing what I needed to be doing.

I see your point. My stress comes from internal barriers. I'm working 5 times as hard behind the scenes to get a customer set up. This isn't right.

@CuriousFox it seems like you're in a challenging position based on some previous posts regarding your sales department. I'd like to hear a bit more sometime, but not sure how to do that without losing the whole confidentiality piece to the WR.

Yikes I hope I'm not coming off as a complainer! I'm simply trying to share. I'll be more cognizant moving forward.

And I think they are working on a DM feature 🥳

Oh no! Not my intention at all. I think it's important that this isn't just a platform of people talking about how great their life, job, and coworkers are (we have LinkedIn for that). I'm just curious to learn a bit more about the company and structure!

The company is solid, yet stuck in old times for internal processes. I hear they are aware and working on a remedy. We shall see 🤷‍♀️

Ah yeah, I've been in similar places before. Not in a sales role though. The "if it isn't broke, don't fix it" approach only works when the company is able to honestly assess what is "broke"

Whenever someone comes to me stressed out by work (sales or otherwise) I tend to give them the same advice: compartmentalize.

I know it sounds like something your therapist would smack me for, but it's always worked for me. Try to not let the work stress spill into your personal life.

How can you do that? Here are a few things that have worked for me in the past, I don't do all of them still and I don't do all of them together:
- Don't check email after hours
- Have a personal phone/laptop/iPad and a work one
- Leave my laptop at the office
- Don't give out my cell number to colleagues
- "No work talk" at home

As a licensed therapist, compartmentalizing is great when you can do it right! The issue is when people think they can but instead are just repressing things until they can't anymore and it comes out in negative behaviors.

You're recommendations are spot on regarding how to help leave work at work, even when working from home.

Show me a job that doesnt have stress and ill show you a liar, lol.

But for real, every occupation has there stressors, sales is at least consistently stressful with full on anxiety at EOQ and EOY.

No matter where you work you are going to find stress. You can either figure out why you are stressing and address it, or compartmentalize like @salesnerd mentioned.
