How do you handle this situation?

What do you do when a prospect tells you that you need to get some phoning practice cos you're crap on the phone?

Thanks for this, as i got in the shower last night, it did hit me, why do i care so much about what one person says?  Plenty others were interested.

Yep, cold calling gets a lot easier once you realise it's not about yourself it's about your pitch and offering.

Tweak the pitch and go again.

Always going to be people who aren't interested even if you're giving them gold for free.

Haha i love this.  I'll take it.  I mean the lady had a point, i was a bit bad on that call, i got a little tongue tied.  For all she knows though i could have a severe speech impediment. I guess some people have forgotten how to be nice.  Or she was just having a bad day.

She was probably just having a bad day.  Who cares what one person thinks anyway.  It’ll get easier just keep dialing.

None of the above. You just said you got wins the other day so you are not crap on the phone. Don't let some person having a shit day affect your confidence. Have a short memory and dial the next number. You got this.

Are you crap? I don’t know you but are you hitting goal or are you struggling? If you’re OP then brush it off and call him back for fun. If you’re bad, work on your craft.

i think ill call back next week, tell the call answerer that someone was really rude to me and i want to speak to the manager and that will get me right through to the DM right?  or is that a bad move?

Yeah don’t do that. Find the dm through zoom, rocketreach, apollo and contact directly. But call the guy back to you who was rude for fun. Get some joy out of the job.

First day on the job?

Realize that this is a standard response from a cold call because you are an asshole to someone every day by virtue of your profession.

Brush it off. Get more reps in.

Actually no although it feels like it.  I'm an experienced account manager whos so damn rusty at cold calling because i haven't done it in so long.  In my previous job, i had so many inbound leads coming through our website or from my social media i barely had to lift the phone.  Additionally I have just moved from UK to Canada, im in a new company which is a fair bit smaller than before and im hustling a bit to open a new territory in the US because I want to get ahead.  I think i just need to get those reps in and it will come back.

Brush it off and understand you will have 100s of 1000s of responses like that in your career but if you let those asses fuel you for the next call you will have 100s of 1000s of yes answers also.

Let that water flow under the bridge and focus on the wins.  If someone tries to shit on you because they are having a bad day, keep smiling and dialing.
We can all improve in everything we do too, so if it keeps eating away at you just focus on the technicals.

You’re going to get some virtual slaps in the face sometimes. The great thing about selling is that you can move onto the next company and/or contact and forget about this person.

If someone is REALLY going to be that cranky with me, I actually try to start laughing at them before they hang up on me. They're just trying to be a jerk, so I throw it right back in their face just to show them that they can't get to me. If you're lucky, you can tell them to have a nice day and then YOU (quickly) hang up on THEM before they do it to you! It's very satisfying. We don't have time for that crap! You said it yourself - you had gotten some wins earlier that day so whatever you are doing is working! Don't let one ass clown get you down.
