And how do you figure it out?

I had a prospect tell me to “your price is too high and it’s time for you to fuck off” today.  That was a fairly good indicator that my pending deal was dead.

If you have a mutually agreed upon next step and they don’t follow through, that’s a good (bad) indicator that it’s losing life.

If they go dark on you from that point, it’s dead. Bag it and move on. Don’t spin your wheels with attempt after attempt to “reconnect”

Don't chase shit that's not going to happen. Reveal the no and move on.

Here's a way to pull it out from a prospect:
Subject: Am i fired?
GlenRoss, has the project we've been working on been deferred/deprioritized?

Momentum seems to have stalled and that's usually a sign that I should table this.

Let me know if I should buzz off for a few months.

No consistent contact / not agreeing to next steps are big red flags for me.

ghosting, adding extra unnecessary steps to the process, or just plain being told to fuck off. i honestly prefer the latter because i don't waste my time trying to push forward on a dead deal.

As long as it’s not one of those dreadful lame “breakup emails”.....it really comes down to identifying a change in behavior of prospect that is different for 2+Weeks.

I think it's subconscious in a lot of ways now. Since I started in sales, so many people say my demeanor has changed to exude confidence. That I can be more direct and comfortable in doing so. And that I'm generally even more outgoing in a lot of ways, even though I already was before.
