"Gut feeling" so fair point it does fall in the emotion category.

That is a good question honestly, I think that I am inclined to think with my emotions but have found that it doesnt tend to end up well for me. When I started slowing down and making more thoughtful decisions I definitely became more successful

Aah that makes more sense. It's a work to take a step back and think since that's not our default setting

I tend to be more analytical, but there have been a few times in my life where I've disregarded the logic for a gut feeling. That emotion* has never failed me.

*Your subconscious brain can process a significantly larger amount of data than your conscious brain, and sometimes I think that 'gut' feeling we attribute to emotions is coming from your subconscious knowing something your conscious brain simply doesn't have the bandwidth to figure out.

Amazing insight. Many people discount gut feeling no matter how strong it is. Sometimes, just going with it would be the right decision

It really depends on the decisions. Some I can be very impulsive about but others I like to think about it for a few days and then decide. It depends on what mental state I am in at the time and how much bandwidth I have for good decision making.

Sure, but we all lean one way or the other by default. I personally lean towards emotional decisions but even I sometimes take a step back and think logically. But my default is heart. So what's your default?

Logic, to the detriment of my partner. "we can't afford NOT to stay at the 5 star, there is a point bonus for this stay, so yes it "costs" more now, but our next two vacations are going to be all on points!"

That’s what I voted for 😎

I think things done via emotion would typically be considered self serving.

”I did this because I felt....”

Emotion is important, but I think it’s best served for self actions without outcomes than can immediately affect others.

a lil bit of both. going with only brain - you end up as a robot. relying solely on heart - leads you to being naive. good mix of both does the work IMO
Ace

No you're right. But I've not included the mix option on purpose. I want to know what do you lean towards mostly?
swizard

Hard to say tbh. but perhaps mostly the brain plays a decisive role. again it depends on the decision - whether its more necessity purchase or its a ego-booster. whether its a long term buy or rather a quick/cheap thing. if it comes to a car - always lasting and well-finished (but never the new one - it dillutes shit tone of value real quick) if its picking the service provider for the business - perhaps reliability, trust, good references and "liking the sales person" plays major role

Try to be more logical about most decisions, however (not sure if this is bad) but for something like transitioning from one company to another, usually use emotions when making that decision.

Apparently, if you are unsure about making a big decision, usually a big YES or NO decision, psychology says to wait until you are dying for the toilet and then make the decision as it makes you suddenly think of the best and worst-case scenario for each. Apparently.

Yeah I feel so too. Humans make decisions from heart by default I think. But with practice that can be changed but that really takes a lot of practice
