How do you manage people prospecting you on LinkedIn (or email)?

Hello

As a Head of Sales or Sales Managers we are very often sollicited on LinkedIn or by email by other SDRs or Salespersons trying to sell us their products or services.

I tend to receive around 10ths a month and tbh I'm ignoring them in 99% of cases

How do you react in these situation?

I politely tell them either I'm not interested or I'm not the decision maker and I'm too low on the totem pole to know who to redirect them too.

Stay kind either way.

Same here. I don't ghost unless it's clearly a spray and pray/total spam message.

You know as a sales person, I empathise. It gets overwhelming, but they’re doing there job, just like you are/were at one point. Hear them out, or just tell them to stop

I'm not in your shoes- but along the same lines just with recruiters pitching new gigs. It can get annoying from time to time but I get it and respect the hustle, mostly. I'd encourage you to shoot back a thanks not interested, all set, not the right time type response to the ones that at least seem like decent work. If they're really personalized, I'd encourage you to maybe shoot something back acknowledging hey I can tell you put time into this- I'm not in the market.  I'm a big karma guy so maybe by serving the world a few extra responses I'll get some my way!

Ignore if I think it’s automated.

if it’s genuine, I politely let them know that I’m not their target audience

It really depends. If I can tell it's a cut n past job then I'll ignore them otherwise I try to give a friendly "no thanks" response

I don't really get any anymore, but when I was an SDR manager I got a ton. I only responded to the good ones, which was very few. It really showed how many terrible SDRs are out there

Depends on how personalized/ relevant their product is especially with recruiters too

I mean if it's a good enough pitch I'll answer. Generally, they are just reaching out to as many people as possible and the sale is a little too generic or it's something that's not a priority to us. If it hasn't caught my interest or I don't see a need I usually just ignore it.

I try to give feedback for the most part. I make mental notes of what's bad to avoid it and shamelessly steal what works.
