How do you qualify for President’s Club?

I used to think that most companies were just get over a certain number of revenue or percentage to goal (ex. Achieve over 110% and you make P Club)

My company only does a couple people from each segment. This seems like it would hurt people from a resume building/accolades perspective but maybe I’m missing something.

Does anyone else have a setup like this? If so, what are the positives?

I previously worked at a company where PC qualification was based on both numbers and how much you kissed the executives' collective ass. At my present company it's based on numbers only - if you hit the required metrics, you're in. That's the way it should be but some executives have lonely buttcheeks I guess.

That was totally my last company. Some behind the scenes popularity contest was involved.  One year, I watched a colleague who had 220% attainment get bypassed for a guy who was just at 100% if you were being generous.  It was a travesty.

Same here in practice. However we have different tiers of PC based on the amount of overachievement.

Unfortunately, PC is actually now just a DIY 'Experience' that you get a  certain amount of points to use on, depending on your tier of PC.

Some folks go on vacations. I also know a guy who got a home gym from it.

Not the same as classic PC with the hotel, booze, and networking.

Kind of understandable in the current climate.

P-Club-lympics would be a fun game. Let's get that into place in 2023 for a War Room Officer's Club trip @GeneralCorp

Typically I've seen it as either top N salespeople against quota go OR anyone over 1XX% quota get to go. I like the latter because otherwise it's a zero sum game.

Purely numbers.  Hit 100% and you go.

typically they set a budget for the P club and that equals X # of people who can attend.  depending on the success of the sales teams that year it could mean you need to make 125%+ to qualify or in a down year, just getting to 100% is all it takes

With the company I used to work for, they would look at everyone over 100% quota and then pick a couple people from that group. It was never clear how they picked but I do think they tried to keep it fair. Not sure what the benefit was, except for of course they didn't have to spend as much money.

At my last company you had to be over 100% for your yearly quota and that was it. Company before that was a much larger sales org and they changed it to being the top 5%. In both cases it was numbers only.

At my previous company, it was top ten reps by numbers per segment.  The advantage is that all the 11-20 bust their hump to hit that magical top 10 rep threshold and it creates a massive amount of competition (read more money for the company).

My company has 20 reps in the division. Only top 2 make it. I see no positives except for the company saving money.

Last company that I was at that had President's Club, it was definitely limited to a certain number of people per department. You had to be over 100% but the top didn't necessarily make it.

My team had 2 spots, I was number one and the other guy that went was number 3, but there were a lot of understandable reasons at play... The number 2 was not a team player in the same way.

IMO it should be a specific number and anyone over that number wins.

I enjoy colonies that just don’t have PC tbh. Award your top earners, but it just breeds old school values….

We do that for the rest of the company. During town halls all year people are chosen who have been nominated for exemplifying one of our core values, those people go into a pool and then they pick one person per department to go to Winner's Circle. For quota bearing reps you just have to be 100% to plan. All sales execs get to go automatically, Directors and up. Then the Executive Leadership Team gets to go because they have a meeting before Winner's Circle starts.
