How do you react when another salesperson reaches out to you as their prospect?

Through all of the cold calls, emails, LinkedIn connections/messages, I still get taken back when another salesperson reaches out to me. The first thing that pops into my head is not to respond or answer the call, but then I think about how if I as a salesperson feel that way, how do my prospects react to my outreach.


Curious how everyone else reacts. Do you respond or answer the call?

I answer then kindly direct them to the correct contact. We've all been there.  Kindness is the way.

100% answer and provide feedback on pitch/value driven. Think about it, if it were you, wouldn't you appreciate someone answering and providing feedback rather than ignoring and ghosting you? We're all human, don't forget.

Call me what you want, just sign the damn contract
If the work has been done and the messaging is relevant, they'll get a response from me. But if it's obvious that somebody half-assed research or didn't do any at all, I ignore it.

I normally tell them I wouldn't be the right person but if it makes sense I'll direct them to who would be......However in my head I can't help but judge their poor prospecting skills if they thought little old me would be a decision maker.

sales karma is real... gotta help them out as much as you can. Not gonna loop them in with the direct person, but will share contact info, current vendor, etc.

I actually try to help correct their prospecting skills. Social media prospecting doesn't work well unless you have a social media presence/following.
