How do you reply to common objections to your cold emails?

I get a lot of "Not Interested" or "We are all set" replies to my cold emails.

My boss tells me to just reply "Thank you for your reply. If anything changes, let us know."

Is that the way to handle these types of replies? Or am I supposed to push back like in cold calls?

I don't think email is a great method for back and forth objections. If they send you an email saying something like "not interested," they probably aren't interested and the last thing they want is a reply saying "but here's why you're wrong..."

I'd either just reply saying let me know if anything changes, offer to send them helpful literature every now and then that they might find insightful, or give them a call to understand why they aren't interested and uncover more. It's easier to objection handle on the phone.

Agreed, even though it really depends on the client or prospect.ย ย

For "not interested" I usually reply with something like:

"Thanks for the heads up. (1-2 Sentence value prop about our product.) If you change your mind in the future, please let me know!"

If I get something like "we're happy" it usually goes like:

"I'm glad to hear you're being treated well. Most of our current clients were relatively happy with their current provider when we first spoke, but ended up switching to us because (value prop.) Few products are perfect, so if you think there could be room for improvement, let me know and I'd be happy to chat."

Honestly it doesn't work very often, sometimes people will reply and ask me to call them back at x point in time, but usually if someone responded with a "not interested" they're either not the DM or really just don't give a fuck.

If the reply isn't too curt or dismissive I'll usually just call after seeing their email. Most people will put their direct line or cell in their signature. Usually I'll hold off for a couple days then give it a dial & ask about their operations/what they're doing today until I can pull a painpoint. The phrase, "What are you asking the technology to do for you?" is one of my favorite discovery questions - just gets them to list everything. At some point they'll list a feature they're not happy with and highlight it. Won't say a word about the product until I've pinpointed an issue I can actually resolve then pitch a follow up meeting to talk about that solution specifically. Just can't get that much information on an email reply thread.

All else fails, ask if you can follow up next quarter.

Nice thanks, do they even mention that they told you they were not interested or they usually forget?

Hit or miss depending on the size of the company & the prospect's role. But some people who do remember also appreciate the boldness of the callback. Just as long as you do your homework on the company & come prepared when you do call!

"You told me you weren't interested, so I did some research on (company name) to better understand what you would be interest in (as far as our product/service is concerned) and wanted to steal 2 minutes from you to discuss that before I close things out."

Worst thing they can do is hang up.

I like to ask why so I can be better about future messaging, but usually I don't get a reply
