How do you take notes ? especially door-to-door sales

Hello folks,



I am a door-to-door sales rep and I struggle taking notes after each meeting. I need to take 1 hour when I get home to fill-in the crm or an excel with the meeting's content. How do you guys solve this problem ?

A voice note and then transcribing after might be an easy solution

With the CRM that you all are using is it app based?  If it is app based, why not just upload notes between knocks.  It may take 4-6 minutes to upload your notes from your contact but would be fresh.  If the CRM isn't app based, I would use the notes capability on your iphone or android device.

Yes there is an app but I never achieved to take notes on my phone 😅. Sometimes I have many appointments in a row so I forgot lots of thing :/. Does it happens to you also ?

@younesbenallal I used to be in D2D sales when I first started in Sales (so roughly 10 years ago).  At that time we were still running and gunning with paper and pens.  My last year there in management, they had started to move towards an app based routing system with notes capabilities.  Routing was easier and as a rep you didn't look as unorganized at the door but the CRM was glitchy.  

I would just make it a point to try and take a moment after your appointment to take notes when they are fresh and then move to the next door.

There is solution for everything. We use to use an app that takes care of everything starting from attendance to notes with real time update.

Oh no it's not. We used it for our field reps in Asia where they had capabilities to take the orders, make notes etc. It was more for a retail reps. You might have to find something similar available in North America.

Sometimes I just ask them- hey, this is a great convo- do you mind if I take notes?
