How does your quota correlate to base salary and/or total OTE

Not quite sure how to phrase this -- is there a common thread with your quotas in total $$ sold and/or # of deals signed and what your base salary is set at?

My hunch is that it varies pretty widely (I'm in SaaS sales), but I'm going into a raise discussion and want to have as much info as possible.

if you're willing, I'd be looking for what your yearly quotas are as well as your OTE breakdown

We do a 50/50 split, commission is 10%. The math is simple from there

its typically a 50/50 split base / variable to make up OTE.

ive also been in 60/40 which has been my favorite.

but i have not seen a comp plan that the OTE split is dependent on what the quota is.

70/30 split but I'm in sales dev management. Should be making the jump to an AE role which will he 50/50 at 12% commission, which is tiered and can go much higher. Just need to pass the final interview and I'll be able to make the jump

Never in my wildest dreams, I'd thought one would have trade secrets in an anonymous community, @jefe, @Sunbunny31. But I think this is actually good - a lot better than throwing in a fake number. As someone once said - "𝐀 𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐬, 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬"

@popepius: I really like your question. Far as I know, companies want to make at least 5X-10X on their payroll investment. If they're spending $200k on you, they'd want at least $1mn to $2mn back from you. So, maybe they give you a quota of $1.5mn. Again, all of this is a hypothesis.

Another way to look at it is by checking salary bands / what the top performing sales reps are making in a company. This is what I could find on the "𝑺𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒑𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒔" for LinkedIn - https://bravado.co/salaries/company/linkedin/

Does this☝️give you an idea of what you're looking for?

50/50 pretty common, see a lot of 60/40 also. I’m 10 years of experience with a more complex plan, enterprise/public sector SaaS, mainly new biz but some renewals. Mine is the following:

Base: 170K

Commission: 2M annual Target. 5% first 50%, 7% further. Paid out yearly for 3 years. So for example, if I close a 100K deal at 5% in January, I get 5K a year for 3 years paid in January. So total is 15-21% over 3 years.

26K performance bonus, given out quarterly.

Puts me at:
314K Y1 on full ramp (I’ll be fully ramped end of December, so 2023 is a full year for me)
434k y2
554k y3

Depends some on company maturity - earlier companies often have quotas around 3x-5x OTE, more mature often have 5x-10x. That’s SaaS though - which is high margin. Other spaces have lower margins, so lower payout rates compared to quota. Depends on a lot of factors though, but core to it is the corporate strategy: aiming more toward growth or profitability?

Also generally a shitload of guesswork.
