Keeps me relatively stress free. Whenever something starts to stress me out I ask myself, "can I change it?". If yes, I do what I need to fix it and stop stressing. If no, stressing won't change anything so might as well let it go.

This is what is working best for me as of late, I've applied the old quote that goes somewhere along the line with if you don't like about your situation right now, change it. It's hard but it puts things into perspective in what I can and cannot change, meaning what I can immediately work on to change my current reality.

This resonates. I also think as salespeople we are in a unique position where our work requires a lot of intensity for short spurts rather than long drawn-out boring days (maybe I am speaking for myself on this).

In that vein I can sometimes feel like I am not doing enough during the in-between periods and would love to learn how to balance that more.

Decent at it but can always get better. The longer I manage the more I realize that I can have an impact on results based on certain behaviors so I just focus on that.

Early on  in my management career I felt super out of control.

Just like the body, the mind can be trained to react to certain situations and stimuli over time. For me, I don’t emotionally attach to anything results oriented, which means I also don’t too excited when we close a huge deal or crush our numbers. Its all about process execution. When it comes to worry, I find it most helpful to ask myself “if the worse possible thing happens, will I still be aight?” And 99% of the time the answer is yes - have that conversation with yourself enough and the brain starts to disengage and the worry dissipates.

Woooow, that's awesome. I need to have this internal conversation more often then. I sometimes do make a huge deal outta wins, not so much out of the fails now as much as I used to dwell on them before. Don't get me wrong, I don't have any regrets and haven't felt any regret out of the wrongs that I've made, but I used to beat myself down when I did and that wasn't healthy. Sometimes I still do that and that's when i catch myself having the internal convo of hey chill this isn't really the worst that can happen and you can learn from this. So i'm def getting better on that aspect. Thank you  @LordBusiness!

Focus on the big rocks and limit the number of things you want to accomplish.  No one can do it all.

I think I was trying to do it all in my 20s, and doing it all got me empty-handed so yeah I'm starting to see the benefit of focus on the big rocks now that I'm in my 30s. I definitely need to get away from the noise and stay focused on the important things.

I’ve matured A LOT in the last 24 months. . I used to worry more about things outside of my control. I used to worry about the bigger picture, which I thought and (to some degree) still think is healthy. Being focused and passionate about succeeding makes sense to me on paper and in practice. . But more recently, I’ve stopped worrying. I focus on what I’m doing in the now, and things just tend to work out. . I do actually put in the work, but in terms of strategy and execution, what used to take a lot of planning and thinking, now just happens so easily. I honestly don’t even know what’s changed. It’s like Neo at the end of the Matrix… it’s just easy for me now

I envy you right now, like a bunch. But it's part of the process you know? The struggle, the fails, the getting up to fall back down again, all that makes way for your planning for success to turn to action, and the action turns to habit. I'm in the first year of walking a path of real clarity of what I consider my own success at the moment and its fucking liberating.

It’s fucking awesome. You’re 100% correct. What’s “easy for me now” came after years and years of pain and grinding. When you finally find the path, the growth is exponential. Keep doing what you’re doing, keep putting the in the effort. In the end it materializes for you like find your way out of the mist.

This is something I remain cognizant of, but it's not always easy. 'Control the controllables' is something I repeat to myself pretty frequently.

At the end of the day, it's the only way to remain sane. There's so much we can't influence, but we can always influence our reaction to those things.

It's a big part of mindfulness - of which I'm a huge proponent.
