How has your company made it obvious they don’t value sales?

this year Engineering, who has been pretty much the sole cause for our lack of growth because they can't deliver shit for customers, has had 2 or 3 european engineering "off sites" this year.

Marketing received one, essentially everyone except sales got an offsite event.

fuck being a founding AE with founders who never sold their own shit

Company got hacked at the end of fiscal year and it made national headline news. Company was a major player in the product space and everyone knew who we were and what our product was. EVERY SINGLE lead/prospect knew about the hack.

Immediate all-hands meeting takes place where at the end, they have an open Q&A. First question is from an AE- "My entire pipeline has vanished. No one is buying anything. What are we doing to supplement sales folks' income while we get through this?"

CEO: There is no reason why this should affect your number this year. Anyone who doesn't hit quota isn't trying hard enough.

Surprise surprise, we finish the year terribly and everyone's big deals fell through, which then caused people to quit because they're not making any money.

That’s brutal.

These people have never actually done the front line work to grow the business.

To them, no sales is always the fault of the rep, never anything else.

That’s trash. You should start looking. But are you the only AE there ?

We’re a sales team of 4 including our head of sales.

No teams are big, we’re barely 55 employees

That’s ass, just tell your manager and the other reps let’s go to a bar and then take a pic and post in the company slack “great offsite event tonight”

That's my question as well. Difficult for anyone to justify an offsite for a single rep.

SDR
I am the only SDR at my company. We just got acquired as well and am the only SDR for that organization as well. They took away my zoominfo permissions so I can only export one contact at a time. No use in making lists. Need to check to make sure every contact is currently not in SF (super manual). Removed my hubspot access even though I told them Salesforce is far more limiting with outreach. I don't have support for anything I am working on. Recently was told by our developers and architects to "Google it" when asking what the value propositions are around a particular service we have. My salary was just reduced by the acquiring company, I haven't been paid any commissions yet, and even though I am the only SDR, I don't have an invite to our sales kick off onsite.

This all sounds quite ominous. Are you looking for a new job?

When they layoff people who actually work for the company and instead hire a rep (partner) to sell the product instead

Why do you need a company off-site event to be happy? I would rather get a fat paycheck and choose where I go "off-site".

Who said I needed it to be happy?

I enjoy bonding with my team and you just don’t get the same result over video.

And we have a new head of sales who we have literally never met.
