How much do you consider lighting in your WFH setup?

My lighting is not ideal and my manager keeps bringing it up but curious what others think.

What lighting do you use?

BAD lighting is much more noticeable than good lighting.

I was on a call yesterday where someone had 2 giant windows right behind them. I could barely concentrate on them because the camera kept trying to adjust to the light. It was super distracting and I ended up having to just minimize zoom.

If you're in that situation, change it. Otherwise, an incredible lighting setup isn't going to change much in the conversation.

Personally, I find good lighting helps with mental health. Especially if you have access to natural light.

Other than being in focus, and not looking like a dark amorphous blob, I don't think lighting matters all that much. I can't say I feel that prospects would expect anyone to have a professional lighting set up in their home.

I use a ring light. And if you have windows be sure to face them. Don't put your back towards windows.

It's important to get your vitamin D in whether over a walk to window. It's crucial for your mental wellbeing

Having a video production background, it can be difference between looking like a creep hiding out in a dark basement, desperately craving human contact and being a well adjusted credible human being.

My office set up is not optimized for good lighting and my coworkers roast me for it. Luckily all of my selling is still done mostly in person so it doesn’t matter
