How is life like for an AE at Salesforce?

I read that most do not hit quota, at least on the commercial level. On the outside looking in though, and based on my experiences with their recruiting team, it does seem like despite what they say, Salesforce wants their sales team to resemble Greek Life at a state university. Seems like the diversity is lacking on the AE end.

Almost seems like you need to be a former fraternity guy, former athlete, or a hot girl in order to get hired as an AE there.

I worked with a number of ppl that are now AEs at Salesforce. And i can only assume that the work environment and culture are similar to the company we worked at……and that is NOT a good thing 😂😂😂

I worked at a company where the culture was SUPER toxic.
Like they would only hire attractive looking ppl, normally white, never older than 25 in the sales department.

the sales culture was super intense. you could get fired if you missed quota 2 months in a row. It was very structured, very thought out.

the SDR team was really cutthroat and the AEs barely did any prospecting. If a deal wasnt going to close in 2 months you had to DQ it and close lost it.

So the company would just churn through accounts.
If you didnt follow the play book to the T, then you could get fired.

A number of top reps from THAT company.....went to Salesforce haha so I you can take from that what you will

I connect frequently with a number of SF reps, plus many reps I used to work with are there now.

No, not all are gorgeous or frat boys. I've been in enough Zoom/Teams meetings to validate this.

It's like any big company - there are departments and divisions and not all are the same. FWIW, the reps I know are doing well, and enjoy it there.

Big companies like Salesforce, Oracle, Microsoft, etc etc are all dependent on your team, manager, territory, and product.

First I have heard anything like this. I have not worked there, nor do I know anyone that works for them. With that being said, I am curious now.

I have heard good things from people that werent frat or athletes. I work at a big tech company which people leave to work at Salesforce all the time. All comes down to your team if a place that big works for you

Incredibly accurate.

I know someone who works there and she is killing it, like 400+% of quota last year. She is very attractive!

It’s pretty diverse and definitely more mature sales people the higher up market you go. They have people applying from all over the world so there’s a lot of smart people that work there. It’s a non stop turn and burn culture so you have to be on top of your game in order to succeed and get promoted.

I interviewed for AE salesforce and was told about the next steps and received an email on who I will be speaking with next but never got a confirmed time. Is anyone familiar with the hiring process for Salesforce?

All I know is, I was interviewing there for like 3 months and kept getting bounced to other groups because they would immediately fill the job I interviewed for. Ultimately, I took the role at my current job because I got the offer quickly and couldn’t stand going through more Salesforce interviews
