How long did you stay after acquisition?

My company was recently acquired by a large tech player; full integration of comp, contracting has taken a while but moving to completion this year. How long do people tend to stay onboard before finding a new startup or new job and why? Any indicators to look out for?

It really depends on what you're looking for. Personally, I love the startup grind (why??) so I wasn't long for the world post-acquisition. I have plenty of friends who are still working there after the acquisition because it provides more stability and security.

I will say, having been through it a couple of times now, you gain the experience of going through an acquisition which can be a great asset on your resume. Try to learn as much as you can and help with the transition process as much as possible, it will benefit you on the next one.

I've stayed longer than I think I anticipated by the part of the organization I am is operates a bit like a startup within a larger organization.

However, like @salesnerd mentioned there is a special feeling about startups that is hard to stay away from. But going through an acquisition (or multiple) is valuable/interesting and can help you in the long run.

until you're vested or find out there's no more $ with the acquirer.

Depends on the culture post acquisition. If the same you usually stay. In my case our company did the acquisition.
