How long do you think the sales hiring boom will last?

I, like many of you here, have been taking a look around during this hiring boom as many sales organizations are trying to hire like crazy.

Though one thing I've been concerned about is: How long will this last?

Obviously there are a million factors that contribute to this lasting, but I'm curious to hear everyone else's thoughts. For example, do you think there will be a kick back the other way - mass firings if things go south in the economy?

How long do you think this sales hiring boom will last?

With the amount of VC money being pumped into the industry right now, I don't see an end in sight. This boom is gonna be big, but once it dies off, those on the outside are gonna be really upset that they missed out.

Just like all the other booms, hindsight is 20/20.
But great point about VC coming in, that makes a lot of sense.

as long as drunk fat males with oakleys and golf tans keep getting vp roles in leadership, there will be someone to sell to.

Honestly who knows really? All I can say is don't sit on the side lines too long. You never know what will happen tomorrow.

I definitely agree! I won't be impulsive to jump somewhere new but I also will be careful to not miss a promising opportunity.

I think this is gonna go for the next 2 years or at least until the next recession, whichever is first.

A recession would definitely be a major event to cause it to end. Though for those of us millennials, what's another recession to us? We have already lived through 2 recessions. /s

This is pure speculation so it might be horseshit or brilliant. I think with the covid stuff companies have lost a lot of money and really are trying to put it behind them and get more cash in the bank. Especially companies that had big losses and have shareholders

How long did it take you to like sales?

I was hired at a really good start up about 4 months ago for a SDR role that I was told I wouldn’t be in for very long. They’re gonna go public in the next year, but Zoom Info reached out to me about an Account exec position. Now I’m wondering if I should take the guaranteed route to AE or let my shares vest and get to AE at the place that took me. Usually I wouldn’t consider jumping so quickly, but AE is AE.

For those of you who failed their first sales job and then recovered and now are doing well... what’s your story?
