How long to hang on after a rebrand?

The company I work for recently went through a rebrand after merging with another company. And when I say recent, I mean it's literally been less than a month. As expected, things are off to a rocky start and we are no where even close to our quotas. The biggest change from the rebrand is the pricing structure, which is obviously impacting our sales. Some colleagues are already thinking about jumping ship, but I want to ride it out for a bit longer assuming things will get better. BUT, if they don't, how long would you stick around?

How long would you stay after a rocky start post rebrand?

Great time to make the next jump in your career.

Leaving after a merger is super common and will raise no red flags in future opportunities.

If it feels right jump ship now.

Part of me does feel this way & I have been poking around on job postings, but not enough to jump ship just yet. But that is a really good point you bring up, leaving after a merger shouldn't raise red flags when interviewing

My only experience in this was that as soon as the merger was announced, everyone started looking elsewhere. Those that had experience under their belt, knew they didn’t want to stick through a process with so much unknown.

If you are younger, might be good to ride it out for growth opportunities?

Did they give you an incentive to stick around? Many years ago I was at a company which merged with another and they gave us some money to stick around for 6 months.

That said, of course things will be a bit rocky for the first 3-6 months. What did you expect?! If you still believe in what you sell, stick around. If your belief has left, leave. It’s that’s simple.

I wasn't given any incentive but now I want to ask for one lol like you said, I did fully expect a rocky start. We'll just have to see where it goes from here

The incentive I was given, was given to all.

Irrelevant anecdote, but maybe not. A guy I went to school with- C student, not a great looking guy, not tall, not particularly well spoken or charismatic. Good dude. You just wouldn't tap him for most likely to do anything.

He takes a finance job out of school. $50k earner. More than 2 decades later. Still works there. Only he runs it now. W-2 was $750k last year.

Moral- sometimes the slow road is the right one. I say stay the course.

Tell your buddy to take that top line $102,150 as deferred comp instead of earned income.

It's still early, so maybe give it some more time. Things may shake out or adjust.

That said, nothing wrong with doing a little exploration on the side into what else is out there that might be a fit.

That's exactly why I voted to ride it out a little longer. Folks are not fast to adapt to change in general.

Really depends how much you like your current role, yes a rocky start sucks. However, if you like everything else and confident about the product/your territory I would be sticking around

I don't love the role but I love the team haha so I do think it's worth hanging on longer. One of my hopes with the rebrand is that more roles will become available for me to make a shift

If feel like usually there are less roles after merger due to redundancy especially from a leadership/promotion. Every merger is different but i would learn more about when the more roles will happen and more details on that

ive never been apart of a rebrand, but the companies that i see that have done it, it will take at least 12 months for things to pick up.

There is value in staying put if you can deal with the shit storm for a while

I've dealt with shit storms worse than this lol so I'm okay riding it out for a bit. I think the biggest concern I have at the moment is with our quota attainment, so I'm interested to see how that will be dealt with

We are in the same soup and it’s been more than 6 months already. Though people all know about it, we are still operating as different products because the synergy product is yet to come out lol

I would definitely wait and see how things are moving in 3,6,9 months before making a decision on the next steps

Interesting! We are technically one product offering now, but the different products from each company are still offered separately if that makes sense.

I've been at the company for a couple years now so I def want to see where it goes, but hearing about other people wanting to leave so soon is always concerning

To me those are the people that create negative noises around. Many will speak but stay back (temp inspiration) 😜

A great mentor of mine once advised "never run away from something, always run towards something you're geniunely excited about." I would keep an eye out in case something super might hit your radar, but stick it out so long as the $$ is there (or could be next quarter). In sales, having consistency/a longer stint with a company also has a value, and you don't sound too unhappy or share a need for urgent change.

You say the new pricing structure is “obviously impacting sales,” but it not obvious to me why that would be the case. Is the new structure seemingly causing an increase in gross volume or decrease? Are mopey savages underperforming?
