How long until you give up on a prospect?

How many emails would you have to send to give up on a prospect? I have been cold emailing for a while now, but I haven't got a single response from a prospect. I am looking to set a limitation on how many emails should I send a prospect before I give up. I'm doing this to save more time.

Wanna hear your thoughts about this, guys. Thank you!

I don't unless I know they are going out of business! I will do 4-6 month followups..

my cadence is:
call, voicemail day 1
day 2 - nothing
Day three call

repeat for a total of 14 business days. if i have no response, i take them out of the sequence and try again at a different point.

what are you saying in your emails? That could also be a part of the issue. I prefer calling every other day for about 2 weeks, mix in an article or something pertaining to them on the 5th day. Send a 2 minute video intro on day 7. lots of things to do.

Numbers of follow ups doesn’t matter - content does. And it’s rare to have cadences with more than 3-5 emails/LinkedIn DMs with valuable/engaging copywriting. Sometime you just run out of arguments. If you have no more value to provide and your emails basically are friendly reminders, I’d advise snoozing the prospect for 6 months. Wait for new contents, product updates, whatever will help you down the road to reactivate

Depends on the sales cycle. But you can always move on to a different contact within the company.

How many accounts do you have? Are they a current client? Unless its an A account or have less than 10 accounts then i continue to follow up until 3 months. If they are that important focus on getting an intro from a peer of theirs

Ok, so here's what's probably happening:

- You're living in Universe A. Where this prospect is special to you. You think about them everyday. You think about "touching" them. An Email is a "Touch". So you do that. Once. Twice. Thrice. You think your emails are being
Sent --> Opened --> Read --> Ignored. And you conclude that the prospect is not responding to you by choice. And you're confused how many more emails it's going to take for them to reply.

- Your prospect is living in Universe B. Where you are not special to them. They don't think about you everyday. They don't care about "how many times I'm being touched". Because they aren't counting. Maybe, they don't understand what you are saying in your email. Maybe, they are not even reading / opening your email. Maybe, they are not even in that company and just haven't updated their LinkedIn.

Universe A is very very very different from Universe B.

So it isn't really about how many more emails it's going to take to get them to respond. But more about, stepping into their shoes and thinking from there. Here's what you can do:

1) Research and confirm if they're actually relevant to reach out
2) Research and confirm their Email ID from a couple of more sources
3) Really ask yourself honestly: if you were them, would you have responded to the email? do you understand the email? is it relevant for you? does it add any value in your life? Make changes accordingly to your content.
4) Experiment: With maybe a GIF, a Loom Video, or maybe even with a different email ID since your emails might be going in spam
5) Try other medium like Linkedin / Cold Call / Twitter

And don't forget, what's happening in your universe, might not actually be happening in theirs.
