how many of you are in sales with hopes to one day build and sell your own shit?

i got into sales because of how entrepreneurial it was and I thought it would be a great prerequisite into becoming a business owner

I like being the guy who builds shit with other people's money.  Lots of fun, without the risk and hassle of putting everything on the line for an idea.

I’ve built a team.  Started in 2016 with a sales org of 3 people and just shy of $5 M in revenue, on pace to do 20x that this year with a sales org of just shy of 90.  Building organizations/teamS/companies is like the ultimate game of chess

It’s almost the other way round for me. I landed in sales by no real intention to do so and then figured how close to being an entrepreneur this thing is. 
Having said that, I’d be happy to definitely build teams for startup’s and rake in the moolah through equity.

I've started a couple of small ventures that did OK but realized that it was difficult to dedicate enough time while still maintaining my regular income.   Unless you are ready to fully commit then there's no point.  More recently I've been doing some sales consulting, which seems to be a better fit and easier on the time management.
