How much are you discounting?

"Paying for the sins of the industry" is a line thrown around often with our prospects referring to the steep discounting that is supposedly taking place elsewhere in the Market (in my world it's others SaaS vendors).

So I'm curious....

  • What's a typical discount range for you?
  • And what are some of the dependencies?
  • Why are you continuing to pretend that you don't discount?

- 10%-20%
- Multi-year contract, more licenses, referral, testimonial, swap
- For me it's a don't ask don't tell kind of thing

No more than 10% unless it’s a huge deal and they agree to get me a PO by a certain date.

Typically no more than 10% that we tie to a date, multi year agreement, added services, etc. however we have definitely discounted more to beat out competitors

We bake in a 10% onboarding fee that doesnt count as MRR so no ones gives a shit about it. Great bargaining chip for negotiation and can add in value adds to incentivize earlier close dates if it comes to it.
