This has always been the motto. No matter what happens in terms of deals and commish, if I am good with my base, there aren't any issues.

I'm definitely spending more than usual. Just moved into the house, and so many little expenses that add up.

I never thought I'd need so many sizes/varieties of garbage/recycling/compost bags.

Just bought a house too. Cash to close had me STRESSED. But itโ€™s an investment and an asset blah blah blah

Things have been crazy but probably order it this weekend. It'll be a bit sad to see my commish go from 11K to 2K, at least until I'm eating tasty meats

I budget with my base and even with that I live below my means for now.

Yup, I budget a bit below my base for expenses. I try to leave 1/3 each month to invest in long term indexes and save/invest the rest. Trying to find other revenue streams as well.

I try to live above my base AND above my OTE. Credit card debts and personal loans baby! I'm sure Biden will forgive my loans pretty soon, banking on that one

Unless your financial planning includes "win the lottery", you're doing it wrong, am I right?

I like to think about a โ€œwhat if I actually winโ€ plan, as outlandish as it may be. Helps me focus on actual long term goals

Not bad as a strategy, and Iโ€™m not averse to having a little โ€œwhat ifโ€ dreaming as incentive, but terrible for long term financial planning. ;)

I live off my base and any extra goes to savings. Most of my commish goes to investing

Live off the base and try allocate about 20-30% of my take home into long term investments. Already have a 401k with employer match. These investments are into IRA, individual brokerage account, art, etc.

Then with commish, more savings / efund, long term investments, fun money.

I'm a budget nerd and have spreadsheets out the ass.

I put all my earnings into a policy and then borrow against it to pay all my bills. Loans are tax free and I still have all my money that is growing at compounding interest in my policy. I have tons of cash value for anything I want to do during my lifetime. Making the most of every dollar I earn, otherwise it's just gone. This is what the wealthy do and use to grow their money.

budget off your base. Commission is for fun, savings, and investing.

I've also recently gotten on a big Dave Ramsey kick so all my commish checks are going towards paying things off. I don't have a ton of debt but I definitely see the benefit in having 0

We try to save some of our base, but with the rising cost of groceries it's very hard. I feel like my wife and I are always at a grocery store.

I have to admit it's hard to budget especially when my knuckle head friends love a great bender at an overpriced club.
Butttt

I'm a king that locked in a 30year fixed mortgage at the July 2020 rate of 2.73%

So in a way, I'm getting paid to live in my house and keep paying debt.

My partner and I have the same weekly personal spending budget, around 200 USD. Means we never fight about money.

Currently, our salaries cover all living expenses including rent and our investment property mortgage. Any of my commission is savings (currently building a deposit for our own home or a second IP). In my new role, my base increases 48%, but Iโ€™ll keep the budget the same.

I save and spend my base... Bonus and commission is considered extra in financial plan. Managed to land a senior AE role with a high 100s base which really helped on living how I want to. My wife is also a doctor about to finish fellowship, so she will be getting a 3-4X comp increase next July when she starts as an attending.

Iโ€™ve always been a โ€œlive on base, commission is extraโ€ sort of guy. Commission was never factored into my cost of living or lifestyle.

We get paid every two weeks so I even budget to only getting two paychecks in a month. The 3rd paycheck in the two months out of the year goes to vacation.
