How much did you hit in your first year as an AE?

I am almost to my 1st full year as an AE and my goal was to sell 1 million ..I am currently working a 2.9 million dollar deal..but I am 2 weeks away from my 1 year as an AE and I have about 200k that can close by the end of the month. However, I am at only $536,192.00 so far..I am trying to hard to find a way to get there and I AM STRUGGLING, and disappointed in myself cuz I am not at my goal!!!!! LOL..

What was your goal that you set to hit in your first year, did you get there, if not how close were you?

I mean what is 'good' depends so much on industry, deal size, time.

Honestly, it's cool to have that number under your belt, but what really matters is how much you make off that. What is your compensation goal?

Noble goal, to be sure. What was your official target? Did you reach that?

Be careful with goals. Many companies pull quotas literally from thin air. A good benchmark is how youโ€™re performing relative to other team members. So with my current role, Iโ€™m barely making quota. On the one hand, my prior role was consistent 200-300%, results I wanted to maintain in this role, so I feel let down. On the other, Iโ€™m the only person on my team that hits, so Iโ€™m still doing well.

1st year I was drinking to kool-aid way too much. Leadership made me feel I can hit prez club right out the gates, I would have been lucky to be at 25% of it.

Look back on historical data and see how the rep in your territory did before you. First year is the hardest, but it actually is in most reps favor because you will naturally ask more questions from no understanding your product entirely yet.

Depends on the job. I have hit it out of the park in some and in others have fallen flat. Just all over the place.

Wrapping my first year right now, one of 2 reps that are exceeding quota out of the 10 or so in my role. Currently sitting 140-150% YTD.

You should celebrate closing over half a mill in your first year! I know you wanted more but that's still very solid!

Whatโ€™s the best companies to reach out to for SDR / BDR roles for a career changer looking for solid base comp and decent OTE (financial advisor made 120k last year 3 years hit quota every year cold calling running the sales process so I think I have relevant AE skills but I get taking a step down since I have no SAAS sales skills. (However I have 1.5 years of IT recruiting experience where I also crushed quota and learned a bit about IT broadly) Thanks
