I've been an AM, AE, VP, Director, Manager, pool boy, glazed ham, etc....and moved fluidly up and down depending on the size of the org I've joined. And to be honest, I've made the most money and had the most direct reports with a director title. 8 months ago I went from VP to Director when I joined a new org, and am now being promoted to "Head of" a region.
How much do you care about titles? Have they ever held you back or shot you forward? Do you fight for it?
There are some "collectives" out there that term you an associate if you are anything under VP. Stupid concept in my opinion as a VP at a startup and Sales Manager at a Fortune 500 (I've been both) can be on different planets of responsibility and financial success.
