How much equity is normal?

I got an offer to be an Inside Sales Manager at a series B company and I only got $80k in shares. I feel like this is low. what is normal?

100% Equity is completely normal in this incredibly non-descript scenario.

Have you ever been offered equity before?

How many total shares does that represent? What’s the % equity? Do you understand the current price per share? Are they common or something else?

Sounds like you’re getting a standard package…but the other questions are ones to ask before accepting.

I only got about $12K when the company I'd worked for for 3 years was acquired many years ago.    I got $0 when a previous startup folded.   What's normal?

for someone who's not a founder, c-level, or v-level - I would count myself lucky to get equity.  That said, I would never base accepting an offer on the amount of equity they promise.

Find your price per share. That will be helpful. You should hope to see a low price per share at this stage.

Based on my previous exits, I am looking for a per share price below $.50. It ch ages from company to company, but at that stage, when sold or IPO you are talking about real wealth creation. Of course it’s all bullshit until it’s real. But it’s worth noting that more equity is normally the easiest thing to get more of in the a-b stage companies

What does 80K in shares mean? How big's the pool? Will it dilute down the road?
Why do you feel it is low?

How many shares does that equate to and are they common shares or preferred. Do you have a lockout on those shares? What’s the vesting schedule… there’s a lot of info missing.

Tend to agree with everyone here.

Strike price is all you should care about. 300M revenue is TINY so you should have ALOT of shares for 80k…
