Did you apply as well?
3
to be sdr
no because i donโ€™t want a recruiter to DQ me before i have an internal conversation. itโ€™s a tough one because sometimes the hiring manager wants to refer me after I apply.

LI is becoming my most powerful tool every time I apply for a job I immediately shoot the recruiter a connection request with a note asking to sit down
1
to be sdr
great idea. recruiter at what level? how do you find the right recruiter. do you look up โ€œSales Recruiterโ€ โ€œGTM Recruiterโ€ and go from there?

depends on the company if it's a small startup that I normally work for they only will have one or 2 recruiters on the payroll a larger company you will have to do some digging into each recruiter to see what departments they hire for and find the one that hires sales or marketing.

Pipeline analysis time. If youโ€™re getting interviews, itโ€™s not your job prospecting that needs help. Itโ€™s likely your targeting.

Ya IMO getting the interview is the hardest part once I get in the interview im in

can you clarify? iโ€™ve gotten interviews through referrals from SDRs and from directly contacting the hiring manager or recruiter. what do you think

I think youโ€™re either interviewing for jobs you canโ€™t get because youโ€™re not qualified OR youโ€™re falling apart in interviews. What do you think?

Considering the tech layoffs I am definitely competing with more qualified candidates + I havenโ€™t demonstrated that Iโ€™m a promising candidate in later rounds. That being said, I swear iโ€™m 10-20% away from landing a role. I think more volume and better interviewing should get me there.

Edit: Iโ€™ve been interviewing at a wide range of company sizes

How can you demonstrate you're a promising candidate? If that's a consistent miss, then that's something you can work on addressing.

This is something someone helped me realize yesterday- I need to directly address their concerns during the interview. For example, when asked โ€œwhy salesโ€ Iโ€™ve been talking about how sales is fulfilling or a great skill instead of talking about how I love being challenged.

A hiring manager once gave me feedback that he thinks I can do the job but wants to know if I want to do the job. I think this is what he was addressing.

Those are some good observations. Hope youโ€™re able to express those in your next interview.

are your using email and linkedin
1
to be sdr
yeah I switched strategies and am now calling + emailing + and linkedin messaging them.

not certain about how to time things but this is how Iโ€™m doing it at the moment.

Call hiring manager
If it goes to voicemail I put the hiring manager in a sequence
Connect with recruiter on LinkedIn and send them an email

Yes because they know the number. Iโ€™ve had people be far too aggressive and itโ€™s a turn off. Keep in mind this is just me though. Others may like it
