How to keep a sales contest fun?

I’m a team captain for a sales contest my company is running through the end of July. This is not my forte as I’m better in one on one scenarios and I’m looking for tips or ideas on how to keep it fun and energetic for my team.

How have you guys continued to be kept engaged in long contests (outside of the prize money at the end)? Or if you’ve been a lead, how’d you keep it fun for your team?

The first issue is the contest runs until end of July, I've lived in homes less than this contest is running.  Keeping your team continually motivated to participate in said contest, likely sounds like more effort than the ROI the contest will bring.  If this is something your bosses are forcing on you and are excited about (lord help them) take the long contest, and figure out a way internally on your team to break it down into many smaller contests.  Individual head to head comps, 1-2 week "sprints" ,etc.

Yeah it’s really long and it is coming from the sales leadership that we all have to participate. We have monthly contests already but like the idea of even smaller ones just internally on our team.

That's a looong contest and you'll always struggle to keep people interested for that amount of time.

Probably better to chunk it and have weekly/monthly winners and an overall winner.

Other than that, get an us v them mentality for your team and try to keep people motivated

Yeah it’s real long and we have monthly prizes already. It’s been one month already and I feel the energy dying on the vine 😅

Maybe a smaller winner every week that gives bonus points for the finale?

I don't know man. This one seems quite long.

Call me what you want, just sign the damn contract
Contests don't actually make sales more fun. Try to get some budget so people can get drunk when this is over. And tell them you're doing that.

Try putting a party at the end no matter what. That plus keep the stakes lower.
