How to make more money?

Howdy/Hiya/Hello

Been in sales for 8 Years, and done relatively well, but hungry for more.

Started as BDE/SDR, moved into an AM role for 4 years. Been in SaaS with mixed success for the last 3.5/4, but have found some stability.

My question- what was the tipping point for people to move into roles offering $100k+ salary/OTE.

I say this as I am about to start a family and looking at my budget it is very tight. I see roles going for 100K+ and know I could do them but not sure how to go about getting there.

Any advice or stories to share about how you have risen to the top?

I've commented this on other similar posts so sorry if it's super repetitive, but one way to do this is to find a (good) recruiter in your industry. When I was in recruiting, if there was a candidate I liked that was a little green for a role, I would make the case for them to a hiring manager and sometimes could help them level up when it came to $$$/responsibility.ย

Good shout, recruiters have always been helpful in job hunts! Did a quick search before posting and didn't find anything but thanks for your input.

This advice is WORTH repeating... When you have a recruiter on your side they are actively trying to sell you to the potential employers and (usually) the higher the salary you get the more their bonus is (usually)ย

1000% ... sometimes people have the perspective that they'll make less if they work with a recruiter, but in reality they are (generally) advocating for them

Just like the lottery, you can't win if you don't play. Apply to the roles you want, but do it via connections at the companies. Build report with reps and/or recruiters and find the right spot to put yourself in position to be successful in the interview process.

Love this PBC. You aren't exactly right - you never know unless you try. I also like the apply via connections. I forgot how much of a pain in the ass the ATS systems are.

I believe it was Steve Martin who said it the best "Be so good they can't ignore you".......

I remember my first Steve Martin reference haha. Yes I'm happy where I am for 6 more months and that gives me two years.ย

It was job hopping for me.ย  I also live in a HCOL.ย  However, after covid, the market is hot and remote workers are fine.ย  My company just onboarded 2 new remote AEs.
