How to sell marketing services?

currently, I am working as an sdr for a digital marketing agency. The agency offers all marketing related services inhouse: brand & strategy, design & development, marketing & campaign and content & production.

My strategy is to approach companies having a maximum of 3-5 marketeers inhouse and search for missing expertise. This could be quite a challenge, especially if you don't have any marketing experience like me.
I am wondering what your strategy of approaching prospects would be!🙌🏻

Good start here. I've sold/led teams selling digital marketing for 10 years.

You need to add a layer... Who's your ICP? Any specific industries or types of businesses? Make sure you're across the ways your product solves problems for them. Eg. Maybe you help homeware ecomm businesses get found via organic search. What kind of results have you got for similar brands? What types of tactics played a part in driving those results?

Currently I am focussing on recruitment companies with a size of 10-50 employees. My takeaway of today so far is that lots of them have to improve on their personal branding as the individual recruiter is often the face of the organisation.

Before, I was trying to find my entrance by offering a SEO audit. However, we experienced that those companies often just want to improve on that topic while we are trying to sell the whole package.

I used to walk customers through a profile analysis, where I'd show them the holes in their current strategy where they're missing customers.  Really harp on the importance of whatever platform I was talking on and then move in with exactly what we did and how we could help.  Get your PA down pat, learn the language of your target industry, and it's literally money in the bank from there.

Thanks for your reply! Do you by any chance have an example of a profile analysis?

greetings from Amsterdam! :)

It really depends on what you're selling as far as marketing goes.  For example, we were focused on on social media marketing.  So what I would do is go through their social pages and dissect them; show them what they're currently doing, what they should be doing and how that could impact their bottom line.  It's all about painting the picture and telling the story of the customer experience, how they're finding you, what's causing them to call you, what your competition is putting out there for them to see.  If you can show them their marketing as their customers see it, and put them in the customers shoes...its pretty much a done deal from the get.

Good start!

Try to focus on on the benefits of your agency and current business casus that shows those companies that you have experience in their business area. Also try to have a general conversation. Really try to understand their main strategy and their challenges.

From here you know where you can pitch on.

In terms of starting conversations, marketers can tell what is and isn't personalized messaging. Ironically, they hate to receive mass content.

I think going after a perceived weakness is smart, but it's all about how you frame it. The pro of working with an agency is speed.

So try to make your messaging something like - seems like you're trying to approach (target audience) through (marketing channels). quick pitch then go with your ask.
