I like to keep my fax machine warmed up. So exciting when it starts screaming at me. Is it a PO? Is it a random text that got lost in the ether? Is it one of those chain faxes where I have to forward to 10 people or else I'm cursed???

According to most sales managers, the key to being a great sales person is having a pulse. Its a crapshoot from thereafter.

I’ll give you a serious answer.

Listening - you have 2 ears and 1 mouth. There’s a reason for that. Listen to your prospects needs, ask questions that are focused on them and their goals.

Empathy - it’s a difficult but learnable skill. Put yourself in the shoes of your prospect, what is frustrating to them? Again, what are their needs?

Time management - show me a salesperson with poor time management skills and I’ll give you a million dollars.

Biggest thing is taking all common values your parents taught you, and throwing them out the window

Burn Towns, Get Money
A few things that have helped me over the years:

- Listen more than you talk. Actually listen, with the intent of trying to understand the customer's perspective.

- Preparation and discipline are critical. Research your customers, your market, your industry. Understand important trends. Use this to frame your conversations with customers thru a lens that reflects their day-to-day.

- Documentation will save you stress. Take good notes. Put them in a common format in a common location. Make sure your managers know where this is.

- Look at sales as a journey from apprentice to master. Take your time and grow your skills. It's not a get-rich-quick tactic, it's a professional set of skills to be carefully honed and refined over time.

- Focus on trust. Build trust with your customers, coworkers, and managers.

- Don't dwell on mistakes. It happens to everyone. Learn from it and don't do it again.

Hope that helps. Good luck out there.

taking up drugs and alcohol.

Grit and work ethic are the 2 biggest things in my opinion. It doesn't matter how great you are at getting meetings or closing customers, if you don't put in the work to get in front of them, and put in the effort throughout the sales process, you aren't going to be successful

My number one rule is to be a person.  There are times where what I am selling doesnt fit.  I tell the client it and they feel more comfortable with me.  If i have aceess to what fits there needs then great I will sell something, if not then let them go.  I have had so many people come back to me because of this exact reason.

The fundamentals of being a great sales person is....DEEZ NUTS

Jokes aside: Its to never be content and comfortable, and always willing to improve on what you already know. I cannot begin to tell you how many AMs got hired and were given a list of leads and these idiots just started dialing away, instead of segmenting and having a daily/weekly game plan.
