How well should we know our commission plan?

I never really cross-check the amount details I mean sure I check my QCommision reports to see if each deal is mapped but I barely cross confirm the accelerators or markups in place.
We get a long long documentation to read half of which is alienated language. No one really seems to care but it's been ticking me off lately.
Is this a common practice? Or is everyone made completed aware of all variable components in their variable pay?

I check every deal to make sure I'm paid. I'm in a high volume role. Errors don't happen often, but they happen often enough for me to check every time.

I know my commission plan very well and have an excel document built out that I plug all my revenue into to track hoe much I’m supposed to be paid.

You should know your plan. What if they made a mistake?

I know my comp plan like the back of my hand. I can tell you exactly where accelerators kick in where I max out and what each deal is worth to me. I’m also a bit paranoid but that’s just the way I am

You need be on top of it, there's lots of times where the correct amount of commission doesn't get paid so make sure you know how much you're owed each month!

Learn it inside out, and do not be afraid to ask for clarification. If anybody gets frustrated over you trying to understand how you are compensated, that is a red flag.
