Huge increase in OTEs for tech sales??

Hey Fam! its been about 3 years since I’ve looked at the job market in my city. I’m seeing crazy high OTEs that have a 60/40 salary to commish. And the salaries are 2X what mine is. Have companies really increased that much in comp, or am I just really underpaid?

The market is ON FIRE right now for sales talent. It's nearly impossible to get an SDR under $60k base right now, remote, and that is driving me insane.

I remember interviewing a BDR from Oracle for a BDR role at my Series A startup. They told me they were paid $70K base, $110k OTE. I asked if he could refer me since I was a VP making less than him.

Wow that makes me want to go to Oracle but yes makes sense since he is at a big corp, no? I feel like being at a startup is a different world. I need to find a startup that will pay me what the corps pay hahaha

At this rate, we'll all have to pay S/BDRs the same pricetag. However, we'll hire fewer of them and increase automation to reduce the stress of workload across the team.

I was getting word a few weeks back that Salesforce and a few others have raised compensation to such a degree that it's forcing others to do the same.

I hate to say it, but it depends. With 10ish years of experience in tech, if the OTE is below 250k, they aren't in the same ballpark.

I love seeing this current market, I am being WAY underpaid for base and I sleep very well knowing that if I get shitcanned I could probably go out and get hired for twice as much base TOMORROW by end of day.
