Hunting in summer: What is your advice?

Hi Sales Savages,


I was wondering how do you deal with July and August, especially August.

 

Prospects are normally on vacation (or thinking about it), so I usually don´t reach out to new prospects as I think I am throwing away opportunities to engage.

 

What do you normally do during this period?

 

What i usually do is prepare a huge list of potential prospects (including email, phone...etc.) and shoot like a sales savage in September.

The terrible and awesome part about covering Canada, is that they take vacations seriously…

Very respectful of my vacations, which is amazing… but essentially out of the office for the entire month of July and August.

Most of my day is spent in discoverorg putting together my call and email lists. I’ll still prospect, but most of that messaging is going into a full Inbox that is send back OOO responses.

Remember, the best time to prospect is 6 months ago. The next best time to prospect is today!

I use parts of the summer weeks to build out account plans and to do additional research. It’s also a good time to try new things with cold
outreach. Try new emails templates etc.

I keep doing what I'm doing. True one contact may be on vacation, but chances are there's another role you can contact within the same company.

Thanks for your feedback! The problem is that in summer (especially August) the rate of response is below avarage by far, at least where i am located (Barcelona, Spain).

Create strong mutual project plans. Learn about expected vacations/time off during the cycle and build your plan around it.
