I am sure this has been done before but what are your cold call/demo horror stories?

I have one for both.

Cold call: I was calling leads given to us from a partner. and clearly the leads and not been vetted or updated by the partner because when I called the guy I got his wife and she told me he had been dead for a year. Needless to say she was prettt upset.

Demo: One of the first demos I did at my current company the prospect was late to the meeting but when he got on the call he was full on taking a crap with camera on and audio alllllll the way up.

Don't really have horror stories aside from secondhand,

Cold Call: BDR was calling and asked why the guy missed his meeting and the prospect said he had to attend a funeral, BDR asks how it was, Prospect says it was one of the saddest experiences of his life...

There are certain topics that should be refreshed from time to time, this is one of them.

I have had the dreaded 'he died' happen before, early in my career, when cold calling. I'd talked to him a few months before and said that it would b e a good time to get back in touch. Obviously, it was not.

What made it worse is that I was in SMB at the time, so the business partner I reached was a friend. Better than getting the wife, though.

I know I've had many more horror stories over the past 14 years or so, but I think they've been blocked out to maintain my sanity.

Either way that is hard. Also like what do you put for close lost reasoning?! He died.

Yeah I have blocked some out but I find laughing about them is good for my sanity too.

I try to bring this up anytime we have a sales meetup.
