Hey golf guys, give me the short, critical path to being good "enough" to potentially golf as a business/networking opportunity.

Take a lesson, realize you do not actually need to use your driver (I almost always tee off with my hybrid), and practice the short game. Try to make it out either playing or practicing 1-2 times month at a minimum.
When you are starting out, don't swing for distance. Swing for consistency, if you can go a whole round without losing a ball you are already doing better than most! I would take a short shot in the fairway over a bomb into a hazard or lost in the trees somewhere everytime.
Most importantly... have fun. If you are not having fun, that is what the bar cart is for.

I'm more of a "sponsor a hole and catch them at the clubhouse" kinda guy
No one is good at golf. Just drink, swing hard, and have fun. People who get too worried about their score end up hating it.
So just being able to make semi-consistent connection in the direction we're generally going should be ok?

Fair point. I think it's always a good idea to play to your strengths rather than mitigate weaknesses. But I have zero capacity in this area and I have to start somewhere.
Same for me. Best would be to take small lessons and get a hang of it
Just shave a few strokes off your score as a start and practice every now and then. The first part is more important. Hope this helps!
