I finally got the offer for a B2B Account Executive role in an awesome tech company. 🎉🥳🥳🥳

I could not have done it without all of your help, you guys and girls are the absolute best. ♥️

The last thing to do is negotiate for bit more base, I have been offered 43k base, but the maximum is 45k base for entry level AE, with an annual salary review.💪🏼💪🏼

I am thinking to go back with reasons why I'm worth 45k, feel free to give examples 🙏🏼

I am going to do a similar style post to @saddnessliutenant in the coming days 'how to go from B2C to B2B etc.

Run the maths on this one. What's that extra 2k worth after tax? 1300-1400? Then divide that by 52 and you're looking at about an extra 28 bucks a week in your pocket. Not a life changing amount of cash so is it really worth complicating the process for a job you want and are excited about when you could just accept the offer and close the deal? Just how I see it anyway.

Thank you, I think I was thinking the same, but mainly, if I don’t negotiate and show them reasons why I am worth it, then how will I sell their product? If they say no, then I’ll tell them that’s what I was doing too 😄

Even tho the math is a little bleak, it’s worth pushing for in my opinion. It helps boost your next raise, it’s more in your 401k if the company matches etc. push now.

I also think pushing for more early shows that you know your worth. Don't sell yourself short, 45k aint big money now a days anyhow, they'll be paying more than that to a recruiter to fill their depleted roster.

You give good logic and reasoning and they'll pay up. Start at 50, settle at 45. You're in sales, sell yourself, negotiate hard, and get a win win brother.

I am now waiting to hear back from them on my request for a slightly higher basic salary, I really hope I haven’t spoiled the deal (nerves kicking in now) but I’m feeling confident.

i dont think you have anything to worry about. in the grand scheme of things, its not a massive ask from you so I would be surprised if they do not give you the 45K.

if they do not give it to you, and you accept I would just mention you are excited about the opportunity but will expect to have a compensation adjustment conversation at your next annual review with you boss. Id drop the "showing them your bravery" piece, no one will really remember this once you sign on.

My advice on that - if you’re out of work now, I wouldn’t out in jeopardy getting a job. Take the job and the salary. $2k isn’t that much money and as was detailed before, it’s like $28/paycheck. Definitely not worth putting the offer at risk.
So take the job, kill it for 1-2 years, and then go for a doubling of your base in your next gig.

Always ask for more. 2k a year may not be a lot, but raises are usually percentage based so it will help you more there.

It will also help you in future roles to be able to say your base is x vs y to negotiate there as well.

Tech is a tough space to get into. Congrats on making it happen!
