I like my employer because anyone who is a manager has held the S.D.R position before. If that were not the case I would be going crazy taking advice from a person who hasn't even done the job!

I actually don't mind if they can't sell, as long as they are good at all the other stuff (keeping blockers out of my way, navigating internal policies, annual appraisals, etc)

Selling the rest of the company on new opportunities they think don't "fit our business".

Sometimes I think people believe we just reach into a bottomless bucket of leads. It is like they think if the project we have isn't a fit for our legacy business, or involves some extra work, you can just throw it back and get a new one.

You try to tell em that these are the leads we got and that even positioning to get them was not easy they hit you with: "Well that's why they pay you the big bucks! LOL"

My last manager had never sold a deal in their life. It was the most frustrating sales manager I have ever dealt with. All they would say is to make more cold calls and that's why deals weren't coming in...lol that was so much fun.ย
