Basically you can sometimes have a retailer who wildly cuts prices and obliges his competitors to do the same to remain competitive, so the market loses value even if the users could recognize a higher value.

It makes sense to me that a retailer should be allowed to decide their own pricing. The truth is, if they are pricing themselves out of the market, they'll figure that out fast and adjust accordingly.

A retailer should be able to dictate their own pricing and determine their own profit margin. If I want to make $1 or $100 from a single widget, that should be up to me.

Are there more details you want to share?

I agree with you but not totally, especially in such a difficult period like this.
I work in a market where there is high demand and poor offer becuase of the lack of raw materials so there is no point to cut retail prices, but someone does anyway.

I mean, if they are doing it they probably have a reason to do it.

It seems that it is allowing them to take market share even if they have to reduce their margins, which could result in them making a bigger profit overall in the end.

So, that'd be a perfectly valid reason.

Besides, even if there is no valid reason, why should they give you or anyone else besides shareholders an explanation of why they are taking such actions? It's a free market.
