I hate when prospects ghost

Been having a rough quarter - my "super interested" prospect on who the quarter depends and was supposed to close this week just vanished. No explanation, budgets were 'approved', DM was onboard.

Found this weird simulator thing where you can pretend to talk to your ghost clients and just... vent. Sounds dumb but it helped with my stress levels ๐Ÿ’€

Still wish there was at least an answer though - now I look stupid in front of our VP. Some people man..

And have the VP open with โ€œWhenโ€™s the funeral? He was so ready to go with approved budgets, I figure he died.โ€

Ouch. So - assuming you have no other contacts at that company? Where you can reach out and just say you're concerned because you haven't been able to get a hold of your contact, and it's not like him.
That said, it is the holidays, and people can quietly disappear for hours or days.

Yes, I have a few other contacts that I interacted with and have sent them a soft note on the status and asking them if there is anything they feel we are missing. Will follow-up with a more direct ask.

The thing is - I had best 'relationship' with my champ and he is most senior amongst them.

Mysteries like that are very frustrating, because you just never know what's going on. It could be totally unrelated, or not, and you have no way of knowing. Hopefully you get a response, and better still, a contract in the door.

Your Champ was probably told budget was pulled or no and they don't have the backbone to tell you. E-mail them or call and say "Hey person, Look I know we were all systems go and when I don't hear from you my assumption is that you were told no on this. Has there been a decision made on this as I am in the dark and left to make assumptions."

Hmmm, here are some tips: 1) Never go in alone, always have two contacts for the account. That way if one ghosts, you have a back up.
2) Make sure to show leadership you did everything you could to make it simple for the end customer to purchase.
3) Chances are, this was something way outside of your control.
