Don't be a dick.
Go to bat for your reps.
Look out for their best interests even if it means putting yourself in uncomfortable situations with your boss.
If you wouldn't have done it when you were an AE don't expect them to.
When you think something coming from up the chain is bullshit, say so before passing along to your team.
Hold yourself to higher standards than you hold your reps.
Accept that they are going to know more than you sometimes.
Ask them constantly what you can be doing better and be sincere about it.
Cut out toxic members of your team like a cancerous tumor.

Also, congrats!

Congratulations!  SaaSam covered it very well.

Also make sure you keep your team in the loop on things they need to know, as well as make sure all company enablement/requirements, etc., are passed along promptly and you push back on the company if any of those things are due at EOQ.

Always ask them to repeat everything that’s in the crm to you verbally. Then ask them to add the details from your crm to an excel sheet or good doc.

Your entire job is based on helping your team make more money. Work for/with them to assist them in making more money. If you are in it thinking it is where the big bucks are, you will be sorely disappointed. You have to want to see your team succeed and nothing else. Their success will in turn show your success.

Mirror and the window, when shit is going bad look in the mirror and determine what you can do better to help your team. When things are going well use the window to look out and credit your team for that success.

You work for them, not the other way around.  Being a servant leader will build great morale for the team and they will want to work hard if they feel that you have their back.

Be approachable.
Praise in public.
Coach/correct in private.
Set expectations with everyone and have them set expectations for you.
Bi-Weekly 1/1's.
Cultivate a team mentality... frees up your time.
When it comes down to getting paid... it's your job to ensure they do.
Manage your information skillfully... from bottom-up and from the top to bottom.

Just to add one more pointer - it’s very important that you build and maintain your team as a team. Keep weekly/bi-weekly team activity that can increase the bonding

Hey, first things first, I am not a manager but I was for a small team of lead generation specialists. Bear in mind that I prefer to be a leader rather than a boss so my suggestions may not apply to your approach.

However, I started my sales career working under a manager who wasn't supportive at all and he didn't know what the sales department should look like ;).

So here's my list of things I would like to see in my manager, whom I consider a pro and will respect.
- Praise publicly criticize privately - and do criticize, sales is tough and there is not much space for mistakes,
- Motivate them in a capitalistic way - I know it sounds bad, but sales is about money and I know that having a mindset that if you want a nice watch first you have to earn this money in commission is good ;),
- Ask them questions about their approach - it will save you loads of prospects they contacted in the wrong way,
- Do cyclical evaluations - to check their mental state and if they do not want to run to another company,
- Mentor them about sales slumps and mental health in this profession - Once I reached my first sales slump I didn't know what to do - it was frustrating and my productivity was around 0%.
- Have open doors hours - Let's say twice a week you will have a block of 2h where any of them can come to your office/call you and ask whatever they want to(schedule some light task for this time). It would be great because sales seem to be a profession in which you should always know everything but people don't. They will definitely use this time to ask silly questions - but those would be crucial for them to excel.
