Well, I worked sales jobs at retail stores throughout college...so I learned how to overcome Karen's objections on the price of a t-shirt or Kyle's objection on the efficacy of Muscle Milk vs standard Whey.Β

i always said the best way to teach a college sales class is to stick all the students in the alumni office and have them cold call alumni for donations

Man good question but I am from a very diverse background (no sales background academically) but sales is fun as a career.

Sales course was not offered but I took a course on "Introduction to entrepreneurship" and was probably the best course I took

We had one sales class and I took it because literally every business major regardless of what they wanted to do recommended it. When the finance kids and save the earth non profit types agree that a class is good...you take the class. I chose sales because of that class. Forever grateful it was offered.

I took 2 sales classes in college, but at the time we didn’t have any sort of sales major or minor.

I couldn't even tell you if sales was offered.Β  I was not a business or econ major either.Β  Β At the time, I would have avoided classes like these like the plague.

We had a sales program at my college as well & that's what I studied. Interesting program but out of all the courses they made us take, there's only one that stood out to me & seemed necessary

Only in my postgrad at business school, undergrad didn't have anything like that.

My degrees are so far from what I do now it wouldn't have mattered if I had taken a sales course in college or not. After college, I spent my twenties traveling and partying all over the world and only now am I growing up.Β

However, those experiences laid the groundwork for me to transition into a sales career.

I did not. We had entrepreneurship classes but no sales-related classes at that time. Knowing what I know now, I would have loved to have taken a sales class. Back then? I was an idiot and probably would have passed it up.

Any sales course in college is a waste of time and money.Β Β

Sales is a combination of accounting, management, economics, law, psychology, health care and bartending.Β Β

Spend your time and money learning these things and you'll be an awesome sales person and make a gazillion dollars.Β  Learn sales and you'll be annoying.

Do you think college is a waste in general?

Nope.Β  College shows that you can complete something you set out to complete.Β  Life lessons are learned.Β  You get your first (for the most part) hint that life isn't fair and sometimes you have to eat some shit.

Knowledge, however, is found and not gained.Β  Anyone going to college to memorize things is wasting their time.Β  They should focus on skills like research, critical thinking and debate.

My 2 cents.Β  Probably worth less than that.

There was one sales class that was part of my business school courses, so I am admittedly not familiar with what the courses would even look like. That being said, sales is so dynamic and variable by product, industry, geography, etc. I would be curious to know what feedback people have after studying it in school and then being in the workforce.Β

I heard some IDIOT say the UK version of The Office is the best version. So, let's settle this now. Which version of The Office is superior. US or UK?

When a lead answers the phone for the first time in history only to scream at me to stop calling my first reaction is to laugh really loud. I don't even think about it.
