This morning on behalf of one of my reps :).

I only ask because a lot of trainers haven't been close enough to a cycle (5+ years), and that can hurt credibility. However, I think you can gain that motion by listening in on calls or watching playback on things like AVOMA, Gong, etc.

hahaha, it's all love here on the sales team! But I agree, there are a lot of trainers who are on the HR side & focus on learning & dev from a business POV but have no empathy for or understanding of what it's like to be a rep. Huge problem in the role and 'training' can be so many different things at different companies. I like to think the reps are my clients, so them winning is me winning too :)

How do you know when a rep is going to be ๐Ÿ”ฅ

BIGGEST giveaways (and all proven in practice) are...ย

1- Replying to my intro email to get to know the team before they start and ask for more resources and intel. Some reps don't even reply!ย

2 - The way people handle their first day... FIRE reps get a lay of the land, get close to the currently good reps, ask questions and dive in.ย

The biggest thing is when a rep fights me during onboarding to get their book and start reaching out to accounts straight away, I love that hustle and energy.ย

How did you become a trainer? What makes you qualified to do this?

Lots of time as a rep and in management, as well as a mix of sales skills with patience, empathy and organizational strengths. Also the ability to provide marketing with a GTM plan and then do it all yourself because their work is never right or what I know my team will genuinely send clients.ย

I think the final pinch is the ability to be as happy for other people closing deals as you would be for yourself to have done it.ย

Lol.. yes. I love being on a sales team but I struggled being an IC because of the never ended quota and pressure Iโ€™d put on myself.ย
