I'm quitting!

What do you consider reasonable notice for quitting a sales job? I'm leaving a covid "in-between" job and I'm excited to get back in to an industry I love. Problem is I start in less than 2 weeks. I'm planning on telling my boss on Monday it will be my last week with the company and help distribute/introduce my accounts to my fellow sales reps to seamlessly transition out. I just don't want to be let go ahead of time.

What do you think?

this is rough because you should give 2 weeks but do your best and share your exit plan to make the transition as seamless as possible

Even though its not the full two weeks as much time as you can give your boss to find someone new is helpful and it helps save the relationship with them.

I would tell them as soon as you feel ready to with the idea the sooner the better in mind.  But if you already have the new job and they don't need to call for a reference then it doesn't matter.

It depends on your role and responsibilities.
Tell them asap min. 2 weeks. Don't burn bridges. Don't they have to pay you based on your working notice if they walk you out right away?

I can’t give 2 weeks as my new job starts 2 weeks from last Monday. And no, my local laws say that I can be let go with no pay after giving notice.

Tell your boss on Monday and say you would like to stay until the end of the week to help with the transition and extend your gratitude to your boss for your accomplishments/success at the company(regardless if it's not true).

You can take the approach of saying the following:

“My new company would like me to start on {{start_date}}, but I’m happy to tell them I’m needed for the full two weeks if you feel it’d help you more. Having done this before, normally within a few days I’d have all accounts transitioned and introduced. If you’d rather I stay the end of the week, I’m happy to bow out a bit early to put everyone at ease.”

I have done this before and they normally don’t care if you _actually_ work the full two weeks.

you don't want to burn bridges with your employer or sound unprofessional. but 1 month is good you can take more to have some time off for yourself.
