I think my whole team has gone soft

There's a newish, not that new but still new for my team... app called Blind where you can post anonymously about your company. It's not geared towards sales necessarily but a handful of reps have started using it to blast our management team, complain about certain pieces of the job, and overall caused a ruckus just being degenerates on there.

It's a huge distraction and most of the post people are complaining about the day-to-day of being a salesperson, i.e. making calls or dealing with a manager. I understand everyone needs an outlet, but has the WFH and/or Gen Z culture made sales reps soft?

Have you ever used the app Blind to complain about your company?

I don't ever see a company using an app like that and it not turning into a forum where whiny bitches complain about having to do their jobs. Sure you'll have some legit complaints but people in general like to complain so if they don't have anything decent to bitch about it'll get pretty dumb.

There are always haters.ย  No matter what company, what role, what level, what industry, there are always going to be the group of folks who seem to feed off negativity.ย  ย Its probably one of single constants I've experienced throughout my career.ย  The other constant, is the folks who distance themselves from that crowd usually find themselves at the top of the leaderboards.ย

Misery loves company and my from my experience the types of people using that type of forum to bitch are 1) just not cut out for sales, canโ€™t get on board with the grind and 2) suck at their job because they think they know better.ย

Let em bitch and complain while your there slinging deals and stacking checks.ย

My coworkers have balls of steel, so they just openly bitch in company-wide slack channels. It gets spicy.

The argument of "has (insert generation) gone soft?" has been around forever. That's sort of a lazy excuse. They are just young

Sounds like the platform has been set up for the abuse of the original usecase.

If I was the sales leader at this company I would call an all-hands and let people get shit off their chest out in the open. Take that feedback, constructively approach a solution that helps everyone get on the same page, and move forward. No time for bitching in the shadows.ย

Can I highjack your post to complain about my manager here? Don't feel like starting a new post.ย

Bad idea. Someoneโ€™s gonna wanna know who is complaining and toxicity in the open requires mass culling to clean up. Anonymity is needed when providing feed back but there will always be discontent because most Americans are entitled, especially in this field. (Iโ€™m American) Maybe your company should kill blind and anyone who continue to voice feedback that is just a gripe instead of constructive should be looked at with a critical eye. Good luck!

I've never heard of Blind. Every generation complains about the generations that follow being soft/ruining everything.

Since pandemic pushing everyone to wfh, many people are of the opinion that all aspects of businesses (at least for software) can be done remotely. How many of you still believe that persona touch goes a long way to close a sales deal?

Has anyone taken any sales training from the Sandler Sales System? My company is putting me through their program right now, and it seems like they say the same thing over and over again...?

Thoughts on hiring sales reps based EQ versus IQ? I have hired more on EQ than IQ with a hint of hunger to make more in comms than IQ. What are your thoughts and what would you normally go for?
