I've a 2 week break before I join the next company. What should I do??

I've recently finished with a company and have 2 weeks until I join my next. This is the first 2 week 'unemployed' break I've had in a while. I'm curious what everyone here would do to 1) - vent the stress out from your last job. 2) - get your head ready for the next.

And yes, I know 2 weeks isn't a lot.

Take the first week and go on a raging bender and then the second week to get back to normal and ready for the new job. lmao JK

But for real, have some fun before you get stressed out again.

Whatโ€™s your relationship status? Single no kids is easier to plan. If I were in that boat Iโ€™d check Google flights for a cheap flight to some awesome location for 3 or 4 days. Depending on where you are you can get to some awesome spots for very cheap.

If you have kids, spend it with them. Plan something special.

In between - relationship, no kids.

Was planning on driving up to the mountains in Wales (uk based) and just wandering there for a day or two.

Absolutely! Take time for yourself.

I'd definitely do something I've wanted to do but didn't have the time to do before.

You have good flights out of the UK to all kinds of exotic locations, too. Any interest in visiting outside the UK?

I have never done this and always wanted to! I would probably spend the first two or three days just doing absolutely NOTHING. Like sit your ass on the couch, watch Netflix, and let all the stress out of your body. The rest of the first week I would do a staycation in my city - go to some of the parks, go on a hike one day, go to a restaurant for lunch instead of dinner on the water, etc etc. The second week I would slowly ramp into getting ready for a new grind - read a book tangentially related to the new gig or something like Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck (FANTASTIC book) that gets your mind open and ready. Start exercising, eating well, getting sleep, moderate drinking, and finish every darn thing on a to-do list from the last couple years.

Last time I changed jobs, this is exactly what I did.

I shut of my phone and just loafed around for a few days soaking in the childlike freedom from responsibility. Then I did some hiking, went for a few long drives, enjoyed being free in the middle of the day by eating out a few times (and day drinking).

Then actually took the time to knock out small to-do's, reinforce my exercise habit, and set up a new set of boundaries for my new gig before starting.

destress, take care of @RollOverBeethoven... self-care started in the sales industry btw!

If you start getting board on day 12, open any of the pre-read, HR bs and get your mind right...

Otherwise, come in with a loaded and cocked gun!

Binge watch something for the first week, then slowly get pumped in the second week so you'll be ready for your next venture.

Ton of self-work. Do the things you LOVE. Take a road trip to something within 3-6 hours driving you've wanted to.

I'd be all about getting some cool experiences in ASAP!

I would shut off my phone and go drive aimlessly for a few days. Then come back and do those little organizational projects that always get de-prioritized at home when you don't want to devote the last 5% of your brainpower after a long day / week at work.
