Being a start up, the grind is real, but no one will work as hard as the owner. They have all of the skin in the game.

This is the key

The standard definition of hustle culture is toxic af, but it's real in these situations.

This. You can't expect your team to have the same hustle as you as an owner.

I want to tell you that I think it's true. Easy to confuse this with the fake/toxic hustle culture, but the grind this one's talking about is a different (real) one.

I get it to an extent, if your the VP of Sales at a Series A, you are going to be working pretty fucking hard

I think it definitely depends on title and compensation but I don’t think a CEO should expect every single employee to be as invested as they are.

I would say at a start up, the average employee is expected to wear more hats that at an enterprise company. Not work as much as a CEO but more at a start up compared to another company

i mean I would agree but i think it depends on how you define "hustle"

like you need to be willing to pivot a ton, figure things out, make mistakes ect ect. THATS for sure.

But the what I have seen play out is like working ALL the time, not being able to take time off, toxic leadership. THAT shit is not ok and you should not have to deal with that at any org even a start up.

Start up is a different sort of beast. It’s not a 8-5 job. It’s a lifestyle and a big box of koolaid you need to drink

I don't understand the point of these posts...do they just want people to know that they hustle by saying its a necessity or are they truly trying to inform people that work is work?

They're both hard work. It's just a different type of hard work (startup vs established), as people here have eluded to.

IMO: Hustle culture. Lol. Read: Work the right combination of hard+smart if you want to obtain more power and money. Don't if you don't. Hours don't matter, accomplishments do.

Seems like generic rise and grind LinkedIn drivel to me… it’s “ooh look at me I work at a startup “ self validation and the kind of shit that LinkedIn has way too f’ing much of these days…

Remember the image of an elephant fellating himself with the caption that said something like, “every LinkedIn post ever”? … this is that in text form.
