I’ve had almost the exact same thing happen to me. So damn angry, I’d just landed a country first deal ($200K+) in a new segment. I reacted by asking my boss if he could give me a reference and thanking him for the opportunity to work for him. I used that to approach competitors and other major players in the industry. That was 8 years ago. It sucked at the time but it’s enabled me to work for over a decade in the industry by building on that reference. Think and act long term.

This is the exact way to go about it. Brutal swallowing that pride, but the payback is incredible when done right.
A moment of emotional satisfaction can create years of frustration.

They call me Daddy, Sales Daddy
They let you go because you brought in too many people to help you close deals? That seems anti-productive since they will now how to hold someone else's hand for a several months while they get that person up to speed, and if its complex product or process, nothing may change. There must be another reason.
If you have money on the table they owe you or will owe you shortly, I'd reach out to Dan Goodman on LI. If you do a search here you will find a couple solid reviews of his services and what to expect.
Regarding the non-compete.... if they fired you, its basically non-enforceable. And even if you quit, it would still be hard to enforce it here in the US. I wouldn't worry about it.

I, unfortunately, only found DG after this exact same thing happened to me. Was told the accounts I had been working on for the last 10 months had never actually been assigned to me. Two weeks later the VP quits after being assigned my workload, and I get a call from the CEO asking for my portal access for the enterprise account that was supposedly not mine because of a large PO being placed. Good guy me couldn’t help but give it to him… damn character and integrity 😂

No. Internally everything was good. They want to hire “senior” sales people even though I was an enterprise account executive. I brought too many people into my deals too often. And my pipeline for 2025 already has potential to go way out of 1 million with my expansion accounts. And I told my manager he was fat last week. (Last part is not true but wish it was). Not to mention they have a non-compete that says I can’t work with direct competitors for 12 months and solicit business for 18 months. I actually could use some guidance. Worse part is I was saving money to travel abroad for a year and I bought a car instead last month 😂

Nothing personality or political. The reason they stated was because they wanted to hire senior sales people. Though I was the only one to hit my number out of 3

Check out whether than non compete is valid/enforceable. Some states ban them, and I believe I remember something coming out that maybe the FTC was banning them nationwide? Look into that but you may not need to worry there

I’ve been using gen AI to understand that and they say it’s still enforceable in Florida. And my legal document says I’m liable for the companies legal fees if there’s an issue

Sadly, FL is a state that may just enforce those restrictions. Do you think it will be a huge encumbrance to you getting another job? Are you able to work in other industries, or is your vertical/business very specialized and you might be challenged?

I'm so sorry! How screwed up is this? They're bringing in new people who theoretically won't need any help or support and that's better than a performing rep? I mean, did you require every company employee to help out with every deal, or is this some trumped up non-sensical bs? I am failing to see how working with you to be more self-sufficient isn't a better path than hiring someone new, if that is, in fact, the reason.

We should just have a public conversation with my former managar on spaces so I can have a better understanding also. It was only my manager I brought into my deals. The second place person only had 450k in sales. However, my one account is going to turn into way over 1 million in new sales in 2025 and I have another account that's going to go ballistic also. Also another person was fired last year from selling a huge deal that was fired so upper management could manage the account also. The company is less than 150 and mostly opereations people

Lots of great advice to a really shitty situation. As you plan to, act professionally and secure professional recommendations as quickly as possible as well as collect all metrics and performance data.
I'd look at the non-compete....usually enforceable assuming you sign for / accept the severance - if only offering 2 weeks, then you need to make a decision whether that $ amount is really valuable to you or if worth giving up if meaning you can start knocking on doors in your existing industry (which will be a quicker path to re-employment)...hence get the recommendations now before/if you decline the severance.
If you plan to exit the industry, then I would push for an improved severance (and maybe use the advice of Dan Goodman or others on how to articulate that). With only 2 weeks cushion, they are forcing you to take the quickest path (competitors etc) which you would prefer not to do especially given the current size of your projected pipeline (don't state as much but infer the risk of that pipeline being lost)
Just when you think you've seen it all, something like this happens and reminds you on what's all wrong with the corporate world.

It happened to me. I then just helped the company secure a deal leading to a 3M USD cascade of deals. Two sales leaders in the company hated each other, and I was stuck in between. One of them wanted to do something under the shadow, and I was working with transparency, so he didn´t like that. He waited until I helped them secure that Whale kind of a deal and let me go right before my probation is over. I was the scapegoat because he was afraid the org would let go of him himself, because, frankly, he was doing a horrible job.
He knows he made a mistake and he knows what he did. I was so mad and I am still, I literally cursed him because he put me as the politics scapegoat, and I have never stood against anyone in the org. My advice - always make sure you get that deal closed and your commissions in. Try to negotiate with your manager. If it´s a lot of money, fight for it. If it’s not, then move on. Life is too short to work for loser companies, and worst for poor leaders.
