If the AE manager closed / won your deal on SFDC...

What would you do if your manager got impatient and closed your deal on SFDC for you?

It's still your deal - but they pushed the button.

How serious is this?

Less CRM makes me happy. If they post on the new biz channel in slack without tagging me then we have a problem. I NEED THAT DOPAMINE!

Death penalty for sure. If I haven't closed/won in SFDC, then there's a reason.

Manny is suffering from a case of FOMO.  Misses the spotlight.  Empathize.

Would love to know why you (or whoever you are referring to here) is holding the deals back from CW but IMO who cares.

I’d be like, “hey Manny, quick question. What the fuck.” Don’t let them do that shit. He’s trying to make a report look a certain way for when he reports up. He’s actually harming everyone in the company and the company itself. Sure you’re on this deal and it’s gonna go through. But what happens when he’s 12 short and he moves 12 deals forward for 12 reps and only 4 close? He’s gonna save his own ass and 8 reps get fired. This to me is a sign of a bad leader. Hopefully you have an audit ability (we do) to see who clicked the button and if I noticed a middle manager at my company doing that for my reps he’s probably get ass fucked to the unemployment line for being a sleeze. Sorry for being dramatic but that’s how I view things from my seat.

Not sure why that would happen, given that there is usually a sales process you need to follow (and so do they). I.e.: No PO? No closed won. What would be the scenario here?

By the way if he/she did it anyway, I'd add a note to the opportunity saying that it was my manager who decided on closing the opportunity after reviewing it. Apples to apples man, if you mess up with my oppties, I'll put your name on them.

I've literally had my boss just ship orders before I have the PO... then the customer goes OH look is this my order?
Puts me in a weird spot because at the times I'm generally waiting on the formal PO after getting verbal.
Has happened more than once.

Who gets paid?   If you still get paid, who cares?  Also, depends on your work.   We don't get to push that button to closed/won.  Our legal team moves that for us and applies the effective date too.

Sorry, I didn't mean to come off as irritable as I probably did.  I got up super early to get to a meeting scheduled for the East coast, and right at the time the meeting was to start, it was moved.   So I'm a bit cranky this morning.   I'll restate:

If it were me and I still got paid, it doesn't really make a difference who pushes the SFDC button.  It's Friday, congrats on the win.

Ah, it's just part of their booking process.   That's how they set the next steps for things like renewals, etc., all based off the official date that they record.   I've already communicated the win internally, so the people who matter already know.

It would be different if there was a burst of virtual confetti like there is on an iPhone, but since there isn't, I'm good with it.

Couple things:

If everything is approved and signed I click the button fast as fuck.  So my boss would have no reason to be impatient.  I'd wake up in the middle of the night to closed/won a deal if that's when I got signatures!

For my first 2 or 3 deals, I definitely wanted to be the one to push the button, almost out of ceremony.  But my boss did ask if I needed him to do it if I was tied up when signatures came in.  I would NOT allow it for the first few, but at this point, yeah sure go ahead and do it, I still get paid regardless and the novelty of it has worn off.

This is a situation where money talks. As long as I get the commission check from it, I could give a shit about who closes it in SF.

As far as I get the deal and get paid for it I don't care even if the receptionist pushes the button

One of the most annoying parts of being a SDR is dealing with AE’s some are great while others screw you over quite often.
